Meeting Minutes from May 27, 2018
The meeting was called to order at 10:37AM by Vice-President Scott Moncur. A meeting Agenda was distributed along with September 3, 2017 Minutes and a Treasure’s report for the period September 4, 2017 through May 27, 2018. Meeting attendance was about 17 including including Officers Scott Moncur and Mike Bottila and Directors Richard Collman and Bob Stemwedel.
A motion was made, seconded and approved to accept the September 3, 2017 minutes as printed and distributed.
Treasurer Mike Bottila reviewed the Treasurer’s Report (Sept. 3, 2017 -May 27,2018). The report indicated income of $151.72 and disbursements of $395.00 indicating an ending balance of $4,126.50 on May 24, 2018.
Elections were opened and nominations made, seconded and voted by attending members resulted in the election of incumbent officers for one-year terms;
Joe Beaupre, President Mike Bottila, Treasurer
Scott Moncur, Vice-President Jonette Kreidewieis, Secretary
Election of a Director continued with a nomination, second and voting for a three-year term;
Barbara Kelley, Director
Loons were reported nesting on the grass island and Ken Hallberg’s floating nest.
Water Quality was reported by Ken Hallberg in the distributed agenda indicating early samples compared to 2017 indicators. Lake water levels are not yet available as an indicator by DNR has not been placed.
Scott Moncur suggested cabin owners use “Muck Begone” for treatment of muddy shores. An Association manual weed cutter is available at the Linzie cabin behind the outhouse. Large snails will soon be coming into shallow water and can be easily removed by cabin owners.
The DNR is studying lake conditions and habitat for increasing the abundance of Large Mouth Bass as very few now exist. Prairie Lake Northern Pike limit is unchanged; one over 30”.
Scott Moncur asked for more volunteers to adopt a buoy. A motion made, seconded and passed to add solar lights on the buoys. Scott will continue to mentor the buoy program,
Beaver management will be discussed next year. Opinions and suggestion can be offered on the prairielake.org website. Lake neighbors can be invited to the Lake Association meetings. Old or weak trees near power lines can be reported to Lake Country Power. Thanks to all the volunteers and Fine Lakes Township for the use of the town hall.
