Spring Meeting – May 26, 2024
Opening Remarks: Joe Beaupre
- The meeting was called to order at 10:40 by President Joe Beaupre.
- The Fall 2023 minutes were reviewed and approved,
- PLIA Officers and meeting attendees were introduced,
- PLIA Financials were reviewed and approved by Mike Botilla.
- Copies of the Treasurer Report was distributed.
- Board of Directors were identified.

- Vice President: Still OPEN (nominate and Vote in Spring)
- Treasurer: Mike Bottila
- Secretary: Teresa Bruno
Old Business
- Loon update was provided: 2 eggs laid but due to gnat infestation, loons temporarily abandoned for approximately 5 days … it is doubted the embryos will develop and hatch
- Walleye tagging update given
New Business
- Steve Coskran introduced as new Water Quality Coordinator
- There was no current update regarding Water Level
- Beaver activity update given … if anyone does notice a beaver lodge contact DNR and they will coordinate removal
- Buoy update … best to connect thru Facebook for any questions concerns … buoys should be in-place by June
- July 4th Boat Parade … looking for a lead boat designee … the parade will start at 12 noon on Saturday, July 6th … the parade should travel clockwise (to the West) from the Boat Landing … it was requested that the parade boats should come closer to the shore
- A plug was made for the Event Center in Floodwood regarding a Cocktail/Dinner paring, scheduled to be held on June 20th
- A VFW Memorial Day Service is schedule to begin at 11:15 at the Fine Lakes Cemetery
- A question was raised and discussed regarding a possible Parking Expansion for the Boat Landing Area
- The topic of Internet access in the Prairie Lake was raised and discussed … VIASAT and Starlink appear to be the only real options, to-date … it was offered that We:Boost (signal enhancer) can also help
- It was stated that there is 2.5 acres for sale … interested parties should contact Eric Collman
