Fall Meeting – September 1, 2024
Opening Remarks: Joe Beaupre
- The meeting was called to order at 10:30 by President Joe Beaupre.
- The Spring 2024 minutes were reviewed and approved,
- PLIA Officers and meeting attendees were introduced,
- PLIA Financials were reviewed and approved by Mike Botilla.
- Copies of the Treasurer Report was distributed.

- Vice President: Still OPEN (nominate and Vote in Spring)
- Treasurer: Mike Bottila

Old Business
- History of Prairie Lake booklets are available for $10.00 (cost is $10 to print).
- Let Joe B know if interested in purchasing, it's a great book!
- Loon Update provided by Ken:
- Big Island: Update to the Spring Meeting is the eggs have disappeared.
- Small Island: At the end of May there were 2 eggs layed and they hatched end of June. Missing 1 of the chicks as of early August
- In summary, 4 eggs were layed, we have 1 survivor.
- Beaver Activity: Let association member know if sight a beaver, the DNR will be engaged to trap and put up signs in the area while trapping.
- 4th of July parade was a hit this year, lots of attendance and some VERY creative boats/pontoons and costumes!
- Water Level – Kellie Rae:
- Doesn't seem as low since put the dam in.
- Water Quality – Steve Coskran:
- Checks began in May and finished last week.
- Lake as 4ft Clarity
- Prairie River has 100 cm clarity
- Hasty Brook has 99 cm clarity
- There was interest by the meeting attendees to create a directory of what businesses cabin owners have used for various work. The list would not be a recommendation but a resource for cabin owners when looking for specific work to get done such as septic pumping, mosquito control, etc.
- Contact Lisa Mohs if you have resources to put on this list, she will gather the list.
- Lisa to send to Jill B for posting on the website.
- Wildlife sitings:
- Mention of hearing coyotes at night
- A mother bear w3/cubs has been sited
- Other sitings: Badger, Bobcat, Turkeys and Ottors
- Buoys – THANK YOU once again to all of you who help place and take out the lake buoys. Contact Joe B if you have any buoy issues, through facebook is usually the quickest.
- Ken reported there is a lack of light on a buoy by Ken.
